Voted Best Percussionist twice in a row at the Kitsap County Music Awards, Malo Castro adds a Latin spice to his ensemble bands. With his congas, timbales, and bongos, Malo puts the clave into his Latin band.

Malo's music career began when he was 15 years old growing up in Puerto Rico surrounded by Latin music. His desire of Latin jazz was fully realized when he formed the group Clave con Jazz. In 2004, Clave con Jazz began collaborating with Bud Parker's arrangement of trombones to form the big band sound of Trombanga. Along the way, he formed the intimate Latin acoustic sounds of Malo Combo and the modern sounds of 4-Plus. He has also worked with the Handy Dullum Fusion Band and Johnny Conga.

His natural feel for rhythm translates vividly on the dance floor. Malo and his wife, Rose, have been teaching salsa, cha cha, and merengue at the Bremerton YMCA since 1999. Since then, they have taught Latin dance throughout Kitsap County.
